Simply put, the contractual obligations of an event the size of QuiltCon would bankrupt the MQG if we attempted to cancel or move the event, and would end the MQG and QuiltCon as we know them.
Additionally, travel boycotts hurt innocent bystanders, most especially local residents, small businesses, and travel industry employees who depend on the meetings and events industry to make a living. There are more strategic ways to influence political policies that are less harmful to innocent bystanders that are just as, if not more, effective, such as donating to advocacy groups or using the gathering of like-minded people at an event to meet with other attendees and organize outreach activities. Events like QuiltCon bring people together, and attendees can leverage such a gathering to meet up and make plans for change.
We encourage MQG members to find ways to express their thoughts on this topic in quilts they submit for the show, as that can lead to a larger conversation and often press coverage as well to extend the conversation beyond our circle of members and makers.
The QuiltCon registration desk, QuiltCon Lecture Hall, and MQG Shop will be cashless. This will speed up your transactions as well as reduce physical touch points throughout the event, lessening the spread of germs.
Check out all the details for vendors on our vendor page.
The QuiltCon schedule, with all workshops and lectures, will be released in June 2023 here on the QuiltCon website!
All MQG members who register and pay for their registration before August 31, 2023 will be entered to win a QuiltCon goodie bag. The bags will be distributed onsite and goodie bag winners will not be notified in advance. Registrants will find out when they check in at registration if they have won a bag. Goodie bags are not eligible for shipping after the event if not picked up onsite.
Six-hour workshops do indeed have a designated break period from 12pm-1:30pm. During this time, the workshop room is closed so that the support staff, faculty, and attendees can all have a break.
